Job Description
**Job Summary**
The Pharmacy Intern will assist licensed pharmacists in various aspects of pharmacy operations, including medication dispensing, patient care, and inventory management. This role is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience, enhancing the intern's understanding of hospital pharmacy practice and contributing to improved patient outcomes.
**Essential Functions**
+ Assists pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications according to prescriptions and established protocols.
+ Participates in medication reconciliation and assist in managing medication therapy for patients as required.
+ Supports the maintenance of accurate inventory levels and assist with ordering and restocking medications.
+ Collaborates with healthcare teams to gather medication histories and provide patient education under the supervision of a pharmacist.
+ Performs routine checks on medication storage areas to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
+ Participates in pharmacy rounds and assist with clinical activities as assigned.
+ Maintains accurate documentation of all pharmacy-related activities and interventions.
+ Engages in continuing education opportunities and contribute to departmental projects as needed.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
**Qualifications**
+ Other Enrollment in an approved program with the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE). required
+ 0-1 years Introductory or Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience as a part of training program. required
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Strong understanding of pharmacology, therapeutics, and pharmacy practice standards.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
+ Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
+ Basic computer skills and proficiency in pharmacy software preferred.
**Licenses and Certifications**
+ LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech State Pharmacy Technician Permit required
