Job Purpose: The Payroll Manager has a crucial role within the Honda Organization, holding responsibility for overseeing and directing Time to Payroll processing activities. The Payroll Manager leads a team that is built to deliver accurate payroll processing, ensure legal & statutory compliance along with adherence to internal policies while maintaining accurate payroll records. Continuous Improvement and support of payroll related projects are also key to overall success. The role also ensures the team are effective and efficient with their various roles which includes training, mentorship, guidance, and support. Manage relationships with payroll-related vendors and strong customer service focused approach in dealing with the Honda Associates and/or key stakeholders. Partners with the auditors ensuring appropriate levels of payroll internal controls are executed. Key Accountabilities:Supervise and Coach Payroll Team:Lead and manage the various teams within the payroll organization. Direct staff to meet payroll service level expectations. Provide guidance, training and development, and overall support to team members.Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment.Foster staff development via formal training and developmental assignments Ensure payroll is accurate and timely:Meet SLA expectations for payroll accuracyEnsure accurate processing of wage payments, taxes, and deductionsEnsure garnishments are accurately processedEnsure payroll adjustments including time adjustments are processed accuratelySafeguard the financial well-being of the organizationImplement best practices to streamline payroll procedures. Create, Maintain and Ensure Staff Compliance with Payroll Procedures:Develop and implement efficient systems to process payroll transactions.Manage time input ensuring timekeeping systems and processes accurately track employee work hours and the hours are paid accurately Develop thorough testing scenarios & direct staff to ensure system upgrades are thoroughly testedManage legal changes to the system via various sources ensuring the system is up to date with legal and statutory changes.Monthly, Quarterly and Yearend procedures are completed accurately and timely including accurate W2 statements, IRS and SSA reporting. Ensure Compliance:Stay informed about payroll regulations, both at the federal, state and local levelsComply with all relevant laws, regulations, and payroll tax obligations are accurate and timely.Meet crucial deadlines for payroll processing.Ensure controls are effectively designed and performed; documentation meets audit, external and SOX requirements.Ensure a records and retention program is effective to meet future requirements. Develop and Maintain Positive Relationships with Honda Department Leads:Collaborate with SOX auditors to avoid audit deficienciesWork closely with HR, Finance teams and vendors to ensure accurate payroll processing. Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:BA in Business Administration or equivalentCPP Certification is a plusPMP Certification is a plus10+ Years of Payroll Experience 5+ Years of Leadership or equivalent experience 3+ Years of SAP Payroll Experience2 years of Kronos or related time and attendance system experienceAbility to effectively manage competing prioritiesExcellent mathematical skills. Proficient with excel formulas.
