ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Maintenance Supervisor maintains the hotel's assets through ongoing preventative maintenance programs and ensures that all mechanical systems are operating in accordance with Maui Seaside Hotel's standards. This position promotes quality service to achieve maximum guest satisfaction.

SCOPE OF WORK:

· Reports to Director of Operations/Chief Engineer

· Supports Maintenance team

OTHER EXPECTATIONS:

· Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the Maui Seaside Hotel's Associate Handbook.

· Demonstrate a working knowledge of all company safety and security procedures.

· Travel required: None.

· Hours Required: Based on business operational needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assist the Chief Engineer in the supervision of the Engineering staff; interview, recommend hiring, train, schedule, prepare payroll, coach and counsel, recommend performance evaluations and discipline as needed.

· Assign work orders to staff; monitor progress and results.

· Plan, prepare and monitor special projects.

· Monitor, control and report on the energy conservation program.

· Responsible for all life/safety systems including fire, elevators, disasters and emergency lighting and generating systems.

· Maintain all motors and control circuits.

· Arrange for proper trash removal and recycling.

· Purchase equipment and supplies. Maintain pars.

· Maintain audio systems within the hotel.

· Perform the duties of a Class II or III Engineer as needed.

· Assist with payroll and other engineering administrative duties.

· Arrange for outside contracts when necessary.

· Assist the Chief Engineer in all areas requested and act in his/her place during his/her absence.

· Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

· Participate in the hotel committees, MOD program and task force assignments.

· Assist the Front Office Manager in all areas requested and act in his/her place during his/her absence.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior Experience:
    • 4+ years' experience in building maintenance.
  • IT Expertise:
    • Advanced knowledge of computer software (including Microsoft Office, outlook) and web analytics tools is preferred.
  • Education:
    • Minimum of two years' college, or equivalent in trade school, or training in property management.
    • · Subject Expertise:
    • Must be able to perform all basic functions of Class III Engineer.
    • Must have special skills and experience in a construction trade such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC.
    • Must be able to work with computers, read-write e-mails; and basic Microsoft Office.
    • Must have skill and ability to handle building mechanical systems and controls, electrical systems, energy management, interior finishes and products and basic management/ supervisor skills.
    • May require ability to drive a pick-up truck
    • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all property safety and security procedures as required maintaining a secure and safe environment for employees as well as guests.
    • Report any unusual occurrences and/or request to Supervisor.
    • Read and abide by all the regulations and rules of conduct stated in the Associate Handbook.
    • Must be service oriented with excellent customer service and sales skills
    • Must be able to effectively communicate to guests, management, and coworkers and read, write and understand the English language
    • Must be energetic and outgoing
    • Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
    • Must be able to follow directions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
    • Must be a team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision
    • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
    • Must be able to understand and work with basic financial information and solve basic arithmetic problems
    • Must be able to type 45 wpm and have the ability to input data and access information on the computer
    • Must have proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Opera; preferred.
    • Must be able to exercise confidentiality and discretion.
